AIPMT may follow the new IIT-JEE format

Filed under:

CBSE may soon follow the IIT-JEE tests eligibility criteria in its AIPMT test by raising the minimum marks. Sources said that candidates who are appearing for the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) may soon have at least 60 percent marks in their class XII exam as the eligibility criteria.

Currently the CBSE follows the 50 percent minimum marks for the AIPMT. With the increase in the percentage the non-serious students would be discouraged to take this examination.

In a recent study, CBSE found that out of 2.3 lakh students this year, only 3,308 made into the merit list and only 40 candidates had less than 60 percent marks in class XII. If the board and the Medical Council of India cleared this proposal, then the new criteria will finally get implemented after the final approval from the Union HRD Ministry.
