NCERT new curriculum is ready

Filed under:

Based on the recommendations of National Curriculum Framework (NCF), NCERT in association with CBSE has drafted a new curriculum for the school students, thereby giving enough importance to the cognitive abilities of students.

Under this new curriculum the NCERT would publish new text books in social science, science, history, mathematics and languages at primary and senior secondary level. The new syllabi creates an interdisciplinary linkage between the primary and upper levels in core seven subjects-foods, materials, living beings, the working of moving things, natural phenomenon & natural resources.

The new syllabus is already approved by the Central Advisory Board on Education (CABE) on September 7 and a monitoring committee appointed by HRD ministry has also given its consent to the new syllabus. But the final draft will come in to force after HRD minister Arjun Singh gives his consent.

The new syllabi will be released in three phases. In the first phase the books for classes I, III, VI, VIII, IX & XI will be come out from April 2006. In the second phase the books for classes II, IV, VII, X, & XII will be come out in April 2007. In the final phase the books for classes V & VIII will be released in April 2008.
