Chennai has again topped in the Class XII examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education this year. The results for all the six regions Ajmer, Allahabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi and Guwahati were announced here on Monday. For the third consecutive year, Chennai claimed the top spot with a pass percentage of 90. Drop in overall performance. However, it saw a drop of 0.51 per cent in its overall performance.
While 420,240 students took the examinations from across the country about 6.8 per cent more than last year the overall pass percentage stood at 77.80 per cent, a rise of 1.8 per cent. Ajmer claimed the second spot with a pass percentage of 84.28, followed by Chandigarh, Delhi, Allahabad and Guwahati.
Girls fare better : Girls again fared better with a pass percentage of 83.17 against 73.78 of boys.
While regular students maintained their lead with a pass percentage of 80.99, private/patrachar students were far behind with 37.41 per cent. Private students, however, improved their record by six per cent from last years 30.86 per cent.
