The first step would be to do MA and M Sc in psychology or applied psychology (with or without a specialisation in clinical psychology). As you will be switching subjects, you will probably have to appear for an entrance test or interview, depending upon the university (DU for instance, uses both an entrance test (80% weightage) and an interview (20% weightage) to select students for its MA psychology, since there is fierce competition for the 70-odd seats).
You could also do your Masters in psychology through distance learning, for which the eligibility is a Bachelors degree in any subject.
However, a Masters degree or diploma is not enough. The Indian Journal of clinical psychology clearly states that in addition to Masters in psychology, a two-year M Phil degree is the minimum mandatory requirement for a clinical psychologist. In principle though, a Ph D is the preferred qualification. Alternatively, you should be a EMU Member of the Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists (IACP), not an Associate or Correspondent Member. Besides clinical experience hi an OPD is essential for counselling.

In the North, Punjab University, Chandigarh and Delhi University are good options.
Also, MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly offers MA (applied and clinical psychology) and Guru Jhambheshwar University, Hissar offers M Sc in applied psychology (clinical).
Eligibility: Bachelors degree (50%) in any subject.
