Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has announced the entrance examination dates for its engineering, non-engineering and medical admissions for the academic year 2006-07.
The university has also released its three new admission brochures for three different programmes. Another deviation of the admission process this year would be the cut-down of the Common Entrance Test (CET) period from two months to one month. The tests for different programmes start from May 6 and will end on June 4. Another first time feature is the seven outstation examination centres Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai,
Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata and Mumbai. The university is also introducing optical mark reader (OMR) system to reduce data entry time at various stages of the admission procedure.
Moreover, according to Saroj Agarwal, director, academic affairs, GGSIPU, The photographs of the candidates on the CET forms will be used in the admit cards, attendance sheet and in the counselling list to counter any attempt of impersonation. According to V K Jain, registrar, GGSIPU, The university will conduct 19 CET for admission to its various programmes. The CET admission to MBBS programmes will be held on June 4, 2006.
The admission brochure I and II of non-engineering and engineering programmes respectively are currently available, while the brochure 111 for MBBS admission will be available from March 31 onwards.
The university is also introducing three new courses from the forthcoming academic session. The University School of Law and Legal Studies is offering LLM with an intake of 30.
