Vardhman admissions announced for the MBBS Programme

The admission process for the MBBS programme of the Vardhman Mahavir Medical College affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indrap-rastha University is likely to commence from March 31. The university will conduct the Common Entrance Test (CET) for the 75 of the total 100 seats offered in the programme. The entrance exam is scheduled for May 12, 2006. The CET for MBBS will be conducted on an all-India basis at eight cities including Delhi, Bho-pal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Kanpur, Jaipur, Kolkata and Mumbai, informed V K Jain, registrar of the university.

Out of the 75 seats for which CET will be conducted, 50 seats are reserved for the students of Delhi region and 25 for all India region categories. In addition, 15 seats are filled through the CBSEs All India Pre Medical Test and 10 from a central pool of allocation, which is said to be done by the health ministry. The eligibility criteria for the programme is a minimum age of 17 as on December 31, 2006; Indian citizenship; should have passed 10+2/ equivalent from recognised board/ university with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and with minimum 50% marks together in PCB, among others.

Last year, around 20,000 students had appeared for the MBBS-CET and the numbers are likely to swell this time around.
