Scholarships are awarded for higher studies abroad in specified fields of engineering, technology and science and covers cost of tuition fee and other educational expenses for various courses at Masters level, Ph D and Post Doctoral level. There are 17 scholarships for SC candidates, two for candidatesbelonging to Denotified Nomadic and semi-Nomadic tribes and one for landless agricultural labourers and traditional artisans. Of the five passage grants, four are for SC candidates and one is for candidate belonging to Denotified Nomadic and semi-Nomadic tribes.
Requirements: For Post Doctoral - first class or 60% marks or equivalent in relevant Masters degree, Ph D and five years of research/ teaching/ professional experience in the concerned field. For Ph D - first class or 60% marks or equivalent in relevant Masters degree and two years teaching/ research/ professional experience/ M Phil degree in the concerned field. For Masters degree - first class or 60% marks or equivalent in relevant Bachelors degree and two years work experience in the concerned field. Candidates should be below 35 years as on March 1, 2006. Total income from all sources of the employed candidate or his/ her parents/ guardians should not exceed Rs 18,000 per month, (excluding such allowances as are not treated as part of total income for the purpose of income-tax) as certified by the employer.
