The Old Students’ Association of the Hindu College organised their annual fifth alumni awards to honourits distinguished alumni who have excelled in their professional careers in various fields such as politics, academics, sports, art, music, films, law and media.
The Alumni Awards, constituted in the year 2000-2001 are art attempt to recognise personalities and tjonour them for their success and contribution made to the nation, in their respective fields.
Somnath Chatterjee, Speaker, Lok Sabha, was the chief guest for the event and gave away alumni awards to the distinguished awardees. The key awardees who have been recognised this year for their contribution to their respective professional fields include Justice Mukul Mudgal, judge. High Court, Surinder Khanna, former test cricketer, A K Bhattacharya, group managing director, Business Standard, P P Sawhney, Vishal Bharadwaj, director, films and music, Zorawar Singh, shooter and Kavita A Sharrna, princi¬pal, Hindu College and Suchitra Gupta, department of History, Hindu College.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was pre¬sented to Prem Prakash, Member of British Empire (MBE), in recognition for his contribution in developing the TV industry in India and the UK.
