The institute offers MA programmes (one year) in Communication Studies, Political Communications, International Communications, International Journalism and Science Communications, and BA programmes (three years) in Broadcasting, Broadcast Journalism, Communications, New Media and Cinema, Photography & Television Studies.
According to Voltmer, the key feature of ICS programmes is the interdisciplinary approach, which means that we study communications from the perspective of a broad range of disciplines, such as history, political science, international relations, sociology, even engineering.
While elaborating on the newly-launched courses, Voltmer said: “The MA in Political Communications is now running for the second year. It is attracting students who have just finished their first degree, but also those who have already worked for political organisations or media. So there is a lot of professional knowledge from all over the world brought in, which makes teaching this programme an exciting experience. The MA in international journalism introduced last year has been a huge success.”
The institute is planning to launch a new MA in Global Media Industries in 2007-08.
