I am a commerce graduate from Delhi University with 44% marks. I had mathematics in 10+2 but not in graduation. I am currently pursuing MCSE and wish to do MCA. Could you please tell me about the eligibility criteria? Also kindly provide me with some names of the institutes where my percentage is not a bar.
The eligibility for admission to MCA courses (as mandated by AICTE) is a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
with mathematics in 10+2 or a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with mathematics as one of the subjects.
Most universities require a mini¬mum 50% aggregate, although some even ask for 60%.
Admission to MCA courses in most universities is through state/ institution-level entrance tests that assesses your logical and analytical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, higher mathematics (+2 and B Sc level), English comprehension and basic computer awareness.
Perhaps you could look at doing your MCA from Indira Gandhi National Open University, www.ignou.ac.in, in which case, you could work alongside to gain some valuable hands-on experience.
