Exploring Jamia Hamdard : Faculty Of Nursing

HISTORY

The Faculty of Nursing came into existence around the nucleus of Rufaida School of Nursing, now called College of Nursing, in 1989. The purpose of establishing the school was to contribute towards overcoming shortage of nurses in the country. The other aim was to encourage girls from Muslim community and weaker sections of the society to take up this noble profession.

SALIENT FEATURES

It trains and educates nurses at the undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral levels.Courses offered by the faculty are recognised by the India Nursing Council. Besides imparting training in hospitals, nursing students are posted in the maternal and child health centres and primary health care centres for practical experience. During these postings they visit homes and conduct health teaching programmes apart from the duties they have to perform in the centres.
