Adelphi University Majors
Majors are declared by obtaining a Change of Major form from the Office of the University Registrar, obtaining appropriate signatures, and returning it to the Office of the University Registrar. Adelphi students may formally choose (declare) a major at any point during their first four semesters at the University. All students must have declared their major by their fifth semester, or after the completion of 60 credits of course work. Once students decide on an area of interest, they are assigned to faculty advisers in their major.
A major is a prescribed series of courses that enables students to acquire depth of knowledge and competence in an academic area of particular interest to the student. Adelphi recognizes and respects that students need different time frames to make their decision about a major.
