Institute of Chartered Accountants Dress Code SoonA dress code for practicing CAs will be out by August end, with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India giving finishing touches to the recommendatory proposal to give its professionals a corporate look and don a new brand identity. However, according to TN Manoharan, ICAI president it will not be mandatory.

ICAI has rescheduled the chartered accountants examinations CA EXAMS RESCHEDULED The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has rescheduled the chartered accountants examinations. Due to the elections to the Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly during April-May 2007 these exams will be held in May 2007.

The state government, in a bid to arrest the growing influence of the decadent western culture on the younger generation, has clamped a ban on fashion shows on the campuses. Immediately after coming to power in the state in December last year, the BJP government had proposed a ban on students wearing western outfits to their classes. The government directives told the college principals to allow only debates, dramas, songs and dances in functions.
ICAI launches insurance scheme, study circles The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has launched a Group Insurance Scheme for its members and their spouses. In this, regard, the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Fund of ICAI signed an agreement with the Life Insurance Corporation of India. In addition to this, the Council has decided to promote weekly study circles for continuous professional learning among students. Select members would guide students while eminent resource persons will address them.

Exclusively for CAs Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched B.Com and M.Com programmes exclusively for Chartered Acountancy (CA) students so that they can simultaneously complete graduation and postgraduation and get exempted from certain CA courses. The B.Com aand M.Com programme for July 2007 session has been designed and developed by IGNOU in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has introduced a number of measures to update examination and training. Now candidates can register for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) after clearing 10th boards as compared to the existing scheme where they could only register after their 12th board result. The CPT exam will now be an objective paper of 200 marks and will be held once in three months across the country. Earlier, the CPT exam was held once in six months. Source Times of India Date 2006-08-08 Information The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is planning to introduce a common proficiency test (CPT) (similar to CET for professional course students) for the entry to the chartered accountancy course from September this year, according to T N Manoharan, president, ICAI, New Delhi. Exam Rescheduled The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will conduct its Common Proficiency Test (CPT) on August 26, 2007, since it was not conducted as per schedule on August 5, due to leakage of the paper.
