SC notice to States on admissions to professional, MBBS course

To avoid confusion in admissions to professional courses and streamline the same for Medical Colleges, the Supreme Court today directed all States and Union Territories to declare Class XII examination results by June 10 and provide the mark-sheet to students by June 15 every year.

A three-judge Bench, headed by Y K Sabharwal, directed all States to conduct first round of counselling for MBBS courses by July 25 and intimate Directorate General of Health Services about the correct position of vacancies by July 26.

The DGHS conducts 15 per cent all India quota examination for MBBS in government medical colleges. The Court said all medical colleges have to strictly adhere to the time schedule for admission; there will be no midstream admission, no excess admissions and no carrying forward of unfilled seats to next year.
