Intel plans to invest 100 million dollars to its teacher-training programme, Teach to the Future.

Central and State Governments Support the Programme

Four Indian institutions are selected in its first phase from India viz SNDT, Osmania, Mysore and Pune universities. Bed Students will undergo for a special programme for computer enabled learning in the classroom. Central and State Governments also support the project and Intel also works with the Government to integrate technology in schools from Kindergarten to Graduation level. Two central Government school Boards, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samithy already adopted the programme. Government of Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka and Chennai Corporation also are under the list.

In the last two years Intel has trained over the 48,000 teachers in 20 cities and will be training another 152000 in 2002.

Teacher Training Programme of Intel comprises pedagogical aspects, Creating students websites, evaluating samples, netiquette, safe surfing, managing students in computer lab etc.

At the School Level Intel conducts a talent search programme and runs a Computer club for adult learners and school dropouts. The programme helps us to broaden our base and build a technology savvy population. It also helps us to sell our technology range of products,saysTimothy G Saponas, President of the Intel foundation and Manger of its International Educational Programmes.
