Students writing the second-year pre-university supplementary examination will not be allowed for CET 2005 admissions.
Beginning this year, the government has decided against admitting students who have written the qualifying examinations as supplementary for both state syllabus and CBSE/ICSE syllabus from seeking admissions for professional college.
We have removed the clause this year because we found the rank list had to be altered if a student who wrote his supplementary scored higher than the one who has written his March examination, sources said.
It is only this year that the department of pre-university education introduced the concept of holding the supplementary examination in July itself instead of October.
This is done to prevent students who wish to pursue their degree courses from losing one academic year.
As for CET is concerned,we cannot entertain them, sources said. Delay may lead to confusion: Any delay in declaring the CBSE/ICSE results is bound to upset the CET 2005 schedule.
This is because, the cell takes 50 percent of the marks secured by the students in qualifying examination (CBSE/ICSE) to allot the CET ranking.
If results do not come by June 1, we may have to seek the governments view on announcement of results of these students, sources stated.
Comed meeting: With the SC pronouncing its judgement for engineering courses, and that too only for fees, Comed-K may convene a meeting on Monday to decide the next course of action for admissions 2005.
As for the state government, the CM is likely to convene a meeting with private college managements to discuss the seat-sharing ratio
