Information
The Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC) is a pilot project launched by the Institute for E-governance, an Andhra Pradesh governmental agency working as a knowledge network to provide quality human resources by imparting training in industry grade skills.
We were part of a batch of 1,066 female students of final semester from 102 different colleges, affiliated to the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), which was selected and trained rigorously in industry grade skills for 12 hours a day. The training followed a pre-planned schedule under the guidance of mentors in the average ratio of 10:1 in teams.
Student-centric
New emerging technologies in the market, a diversion from the routine curriculum, were designed as course content.
Apart from this, good infrastructure facilities like computer labs with Internet facilities were provided by 32 JKC hosting colleges selected by the IEG. The form of learning adopted was student-centric and it was through this environment of `learning by doing that helped us explore upon the guidance given by their mentors in the form of course topics.
The training, while adhering to the projects schedule of the university, included semester subjects, which were dealt with under the guidance of lecturers. As part of the projects, a real life environment in Government departments also helped us interact with the officials concerned and obtain the necessary guidance to go about the requirements of the projects.
Finally, the recruitments by different MNCs gave an added advantage to us.
All the experiences gained after being trained for five months have instilled confidence in us to deal with any kind of uncertain situations, at the same time, encouraging team work, interpersonal skills to exchange ideas and work in harmony as a team, applying theoretical knowledge practically, increasing analytical reasoning ability and developing workspace and time management along with entrepreneurial skills.
The skills acquired during the training have helped us to clear different levels of tests conducted by the companies in the recruitment process.
On the whole the training has given us an opportunity to be more professional while going about our new ventures.
