The Medical Council of India (MCI) has sanctioned 100 seats each in three of the six new medical colleges that the State Government has decided to open.
The permission to start these medical colleges at Shimoga, Hassan, and Belgaum would be coming shortly, and the 300 seats in these three colleges would be included in the seat matrix for CET counselling. For the remaining three colleges at Mandya, Bidar, and Raichur, the MCI team would be visiting shortly, he added. On the joint afffidavit filed before the Supreme Court for 50:50 seat sharing by the government and private colleges, order was expected on Monday. CET counselling for different categories would be over by that time and counseling for general category would begin, the CM said.
Jaya pitches for Metro Rail
Earlier in Davangere, the CM rued at the opposition to the metro rail project. Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh are eagerly waiting to take over the metro rail project in case it is not implemented in Bangalore, he said. He said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha had already written to the Planning Commission in this regard.
