Jammu district annual plan approved at Rs 84.61 cr Education, PHE, Health, R&B get highest share

The annual plan outlay for Jammu district for the current financial year would be of the order of over Rs. 84.61 crore. Of this, Rs 52.12 crore would be revenue component and Rs. 32.49 crore as capital component.
The highest allocation of Rs. 1901.61 lakh has been earmarked for education sector followed by Rs. 1319.50 lakh for PHE, Rs. 1078.09 lakh for Health and Rs. 987.53 lakh for R&B sector. Similarly, Rs. 349.87 lakh have been allocated under minor irrigation sector.
An amount of Rs. 78.14 crore was utilized on various development and welfare schemes under the plan in the district last fiscal.
The plan along with modifications as proposed by the legislators and agreed to unanimously was approved at a meeting of the District Development Board held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma here today.
Social Welfare Minister Mula Ram, Health Minister Mrs Suman Bhagat and Ministers of State Ch Gharu Ram, Raman Bhalla, Yash Paul Kundal, S. Manjeet Singh and Yogesh Sawhney, Madan Lal Sharma and T. S Bajwa, MPs, Vice Chairman Gujjar and Bakerwal Advisory Board Haji Buland Khan, Vice Chairman Schedule Caste Advisory Board Mr G. L Chalotra, Vice Chairman Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People Shabir Ahmed Khan, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Kavinder Gupta, legislators and presidents of municipal committees of the district participated in the deliberations.
Financial Commissioners, Principal Secretaries, Commissioners/Secretaries of various departments, heads of departments and district officers also attended the meeting.
It was stated that under Agriculture sector, Rs. 488.52 lakh have been earmarked including T&V and agriculture lands.
To boost farm production, 16200 metric tonnes of urea, 12370 metric tonnes of DAP and 5281 metric tonnes of MOP is also being utilized in the district this year.
Likewise, 43750 trays of button mushrooms and 2900 blocks of dhingri mushrooms would also be established in the district during the year.
Under Rural Development sector, 604 income generating units would be set up and 52 self-help groups formed for undertaking various economic activities under SGSY. In Rural Sanitation, 35 school latrines and three women sanitary complexes would be constructed. As many as 470 units would be set up under PMRY under District Industries Centre.
Under R&B sector, earthwork would be completed of 23.60 km road length while shingling would be done on 53.78 km, metalling on 74.01 km and black-topping on 79.63 km road length.
In Power sector, a sub-station of 63 KVA would be installed besides one km HT line and 17.2 km LT line would be installed and 9.86 km line replaced.
In Education sector, free textbooks would be provided to 102934 students while merit-cum-poverty scholarship would be given to 2357 students and mid-day meals to 80543 students. Under social welfare sector, 415 physically challenged students would be provided pre-matric scholarships and 50 handicapped persons given prosthetic aid. Similarly, 40,000 scheduled caste students would be provided pre-matric scholarships besides re-imbursing examination fee of 1355 students and giving stipend to 117 ITI students. Under welfare of OBC, 6400 students will get pre-matric scholarships and examination fee of 603 students in the district re-imbursed this year.
As far as horticulture sector is concerned, an outlay of Rs. 61.90 lakh has been earmarked, out of which Rs. 9.20 lakh is the capital component.
Under animal husbandry sector, 88000 animals would be brought under artificial insemination to improve quality of animals to ensure high milk productivity. To promote pisciculture, fish seed would be stocked in 115 ponds and water bodies.
In co-operative sector, Rs. 398 lakh would be provided as short-term and Rs. 106 lakh as medium term loans to the farmers. The department would also provide 1190 tonnes of different kinds of fertilizers to the farmers through its retail sale outlets. Additional irrigation potential would be created for 80 hectares.
Earlier, District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Hirdesh Kumar Singh gave details of the physical and financial achievements made in the district during the last financial year.
