THE STATE Government is all set to start CET counselling for engineering courses on June 14. If you are one of those candidates seeking admission to any of the professional colleges and not yet decided on the course, do not worry.
Engineering disciplines are interdependent. Civil, Electrical and Mechanical branches are the pillars of engineering. Other disciplines are the offshoots of these branches. Every discipline has its own importance, states the Registrar of the National Institute of Technology-Karnataka (NIT-K), Surathkal, A. H. Sequiera.
Some of the important disciplines emerging at the degree level are: Computer Science and Engineering; Electronics and Communication Engineering; Information Science or Technology; Biomedical Engineering and Medical Electronics; Biotechnology Engineering; Architecture; Telecommunication Engineering; Environmental Engineering; Industrial Production Engineering; Automobile Engineering; Printing Technology; Polymer Technology; and Textile and Silk Technology.
The National Technical Manpower Information System at NIT-K, Surathkal, is the nodal centre of Karnataka for manpower assessment for engineering, pharmacy, MCA and management courses. The intake mentioned in colleges below is the sanctioned intake for 2004.
