EUROMED MARSEILLE Ecole de Management, among the top B-schools in France, has tied up with the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, for a student and faculty exchange programme commencing this academic year. The understanding is that six students each from both the schools will be on the exchange programme in different areas of management study.
To firm up this partnership, the Dean of Euromed, Bernard Belletante, and the Marketing Manager, Jean Christophe Carteron, were in Bangalore recently. The two were also scouting for a partnership with the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B), but that is expected to take time. The two will explore opportunities, beginning with participation in seminars in the two countries.
Euromed is of late, has been evincing a lot of interest in India and is keen on having Indian students studying in the southern tip of France. The strategy of Euromed , not just in attracting Indian students but also from different parts of the globe, has been well thought out. We want to provide a management style that is capable of integrating intellectual, social and economic difference, and of blending these into a common goal.
They are not turning its back on the Anglo-Saxon model which has proved its efficiency in finance, organisational planning, marketing and the like. However, the Anglo-Saxon model, according to the Dean, has had its limitations with its notion of time being single-tracked. At Euromed, the concept is that of a more flexible notion of time management, an approach where experimentation and intuition would play an important role. All programmes are taught in English.
Besides this pitch, Euromed talks about its perception of the world, of its future, for which it draws upon the roots of the city of Marseille. Euromed offers M.Sc in Management, a generalist three-year programme. Recruitment of foreign students for this programme is done through UNIVERSA entrance examination and GMAT scores.
The Bachelor in International Business is another programme for which it has tie-ups with Canada, China, Germany, Russia, Spain, United Kingdom and the U.S. The Master in International Business is a double degree programme. The other courses include Bachelor in Finance and Banking; Professional Masters (11 months) with specialisation in media management, non-profit organisations and public management, international sports management, and healthcare company management. These cost between 7,000 and 12,000 Euros (Rs. 57 to an Euro).
World Mediterranean MBA
The World Mediterranean MBA programme is part of this strategy. The structure is simple: after 10 weeks at Euromed Marseille, the students have to stay one month each in the six countries of the Mediterranean region (Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Italy, Spain and Greece). The requirements for admission include a degree and at least three years experience in a management position in a company. The fees is 41,000 Euros.
