Health university counselling commences today

The NTR University of Health Sciences will implement the 5 per cent quota (drawn from general category of seats) for Muslims in the online counseling for admission into MBBS/BDS courses, beginning at Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Tirupati for EAMCET rankers at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday.

With this, the total reservations will reach 51 per cent, which goes against the Supreme Court order that reservations should not cross 50 per cent.

During the medical counselling, the composition of reservations in

percentage terms will be SCs -15, STs -6, BC (A) - 7, BC (B) - 10, BC © - 1, BC (D) - 7 and BC (E) -5. Muslim reservations will be covered under BC (E).

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, R. Sambasiva Rao, said Muslim quota is being extended as per the recent GO.

The university would fill a total of 3,818 MBBS and 1,280 BDS seats allover the State. Admissions would be given in 29 medical colleges (government-10 and private-19) and 14 dental colleges (government-2 and private-12).

These include four new medical colleges – Bhaskara Medical College, Rangareddy district, Shadan Medical College, Hyderabad, Santi Ram Medical College, Nandyal, and Konaseema Institute of Medical Sciences, Amalapuram – permitted by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

On the first day, counselling will be held for 200 candidates each at the three centres.

The candidates should go to the centres allotted for their respective university areas. The three centres are – NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada (for Andhra University); Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad (for Osmania University); and S.V. Medical College, Tirupati (for Sri Venkateswara University).

Those seeking admission under the unreserved (non-local) category can appear at any centre.

For BC-E category

Meanwhile, the university invited applications from the BC-E category EAMCET rankers for admission to MBBS/BDS courses. The applications will be sold from July 17 to 19 at the office of the Health University, Vijayawada, only.

The filled-in applications should be submitted before July 19 by 5 p.m.
