The Government has fixed the dates of the admission schedules of EAMCET-2005, ICET-2005 and Ed CET-2004 and the notifications with detailed procedure would be issued soon.
The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) chairman, K.C. Reddy, said the EAMCET counselling would be held from July 27 to September 10 or till counselling is completed. The counselling for the final phase of the admissions of Ed.CET for the academic year 2004-2005 would be held from July 5 to 12.
The ICET counselling would be held from July 14 to 21. While the classes for MBA and MCA courses would begin from August 1, the Engineering colleges would open on September 1.
Prof. Reddy said a proposal has been sent to the Government to reduce the qualifying marks in the EAMCET-2005 from 48 to 40, on the lines of previous year, in view of seats falling vacant for want of right candidates. However, the Government is yet to give its nod.
He said there was a proposal to set up a multi-purpose networking facility in all the universities by next year so that counselling sessions could be taken in the respective universities for common courses. The facility could also be used for video-conferencing to share the lectures.
The counselling for ICET, which has been brought under centralised procedure for the first time, would be held from July 14 to 21 at six place– Hyderabad, Vishakapatnam, Guntur, Tirupati, Warangal and Kadapa– simultaneously. Students can attend at any place and they don’t need not submit a separate application.
The list of MBA and MCA College approved by the AICTE is available on www.aicte.ernet.in. There is no change in the fee structure and students have to pay Rs. 20,000 per annum. However, the fee at Kakatiya University College and the Andhra University College is much lower at Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 8,000 respectively.
Quota seats
The Minority colleges have to fill their quota seats with their respective minority candidates only. This year 5008 Muslim candidates qualified while they have 1,870 seats in 57 MCA colleges and 2,250 seats in 38 MBA colleges.
With regard to Christian candidates, 1,316 cleared the test this year while 3,350 seats are available in 57 MCA colleges and 2,250 seats are available in 38 MBA colleges.
