Information
A number of mythological characters came alive on Wednesday during a sparkling display by college and high school students here. The students took keen interest in reviving these mythological characters by participating in a fancy dress competition at Samskruthika Habba, organised by Vishwamanava Vidyarthi Vedike at Kalamandira in Mysore.

If the 10headed Ravana reminded one of the characters in Ramayana, the Mahishasura Mardini was a hit with the audience. Two students who dressed up as a vegetable vendor and a Yakshagana artiste were appreciated.

The programme was well received and the students enthusiasm and eagerness marked the success of other competitions such as the individual and group dances, and music competitions.

However, the behaviour of a section of the crowd left a bad taste with the participants and the audience. The event attracted a number of participants from high schools and colleges. Earlier, noted writer Devanuru Mahadev, had to cut short his speech as a section of the crowd booed him when he started speaking. A similar fate befell other speakers as well.
