Students of different colleges under the banner of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarti Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest on Wednesday in support of their demands, including the release of scholarship to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students. The protesters move to lock the Social Welfare Department office was thwarted by the police. Later, they went to Deputy Commissioners office and staged a demonstration. They alleged that the scholarship has not been released for three years, as result of which many SC/ST students have been forced to quit their courses.
Though many students have completed graduation, they have not been provided with degree certificates for non-payment of fees, they said. This has prevented many graduates from pursuing postgraduate courses
