Practice in rural areas

Candidates selecting MBBS seats in any of the government-run colleges will be required to execute an undertaking on a stamp paper that they are prepared to serve in any primary health centre or primary health unit in the rural areas of the State.

On completion of the MBBS course, the candidates will have to serve in the health centres for a minimum of one year. In default, the candidates will be liable to pay a penalty of Rs. 1 lakh to the State Government.

Fee structure

Candidates seeking an MBBS seat in government colleges should pay a fee of Rs. 16,200. In private unaided colleges - both minority and non-minority institutions - they should pay Rs. 42,000 for the first 30 per cent of seats (Category A) and Rs. 1.72 lakh for the next 20 per cent of seats (Category B).

Fifty per cent of seats in private colleges are to be filled by the managements.

For BDS, the fee structure is Rs. 13,900 (government colleges); Rs. 32,000 (Category A in private unaided colleges) and Rs. 1.07 lakh (Category B seats).

For Indian systems of medicine and homoeopathy courses, the fee is Rs. 8,090 (government colleges); Rs. 11,090 (private aided colleges) and Rs. 33,090 (private unaided colleges).

Candidates under SC/ST categories need not pay any fee for Category-A seats in government, aided and unaided colleges. But for Category-B seats, they will have to pay 40 per cent of the fees if their parents annual income is less than Rs. 1 lakh. Full fee will be charged for Category-B seats if the annual income is Rs. 1 lakh or above.
