The University of Mysore on Thursday entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the College of Technological Sciences (CTS), Khartoum, Sudan, on collaborative teaching, research and exchange programmes in the areas of biotechnology.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, J. Shashidhar Prasad, and the Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy at CTS, Sami A. Khalid, exchanged the document on behalf of the two institutions. The MoU follows a protocol between India and Sudan.
Addressing presspersons, Prof. Khalid said the focus of understanding arrived at between the two educational institutions is on biotechnology.
The long-term understanding is in the areas of teaching and research, exchange of staff, postgraduate students programme and exploring the possibilities of implementing students exchange programmes.
Among others, he said, collaboration between the two institutions can be in the field of information technology, biotechnology, engineering and drug design.
Further, the CTS is keen on having understanding in dentistry and pharmacy. The CTS is in talks with JSS educational institutions to explore the possibilities of a similar understanding, he added.
Besides Prof. Khalid, the Sudanese delegation comprised the Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, A. Rouf A. Wahad Al-Otaibi, the Director of External Affairs, Mirghani Yousif Mohamed, and the Dean Academic Affairs, Mubarak Bashitr.
The university Registrar, N.D. Tiwari, was present.
The delegation visited a few departments of the university.
