Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has opposed the Centres Draft Private Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Fixation of Fee) Bill, 2005, in its present form.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Nagaraja Reddy, secretary, ABVP State unit, said the Government should convene a round-table conference to discuss some provisions in the draft.

Representatives of student organisations and managements of educational institutions and educational experts should be invited to the meeting, he said.

He said ABVP will convene such a meeting in Bangalore shortly to discuss the amendments to be incorporated to the draft.

Referring to the August 12 judgment of the Supreme Court on admissions to professional courses, he said the State Government failed to present the case properly before the court.
