Subhas S. Bhusnurmath, professor of mathematics, Karnataka University, on Saturday said that the advent of the computers and computer-generated graphics has given a new impetus to the study of non-linear differential equations.
He was delivering the key-note address at seminar on Foundations and frontiers of differential equations and its applications, sponsored by the University Grants Commission and hosted by the Sharanabasaveshwar College of Science here. Mr. Bhusnurmath said the theory of functional analysis and topology in the study of partial differential equations has become increasingly important in contemporary society.
