University College London UCL is the oldest and largest College of the federal University of London and is a cosmopolitan university situated in the centre of one of the world’s great cities. Founded in 1826, UCL was the first university institution to be founded in London, the first university institution in the United Kingdom to be established on an entirely secular basis and admit students regardless of their religion, and the first to admit women on equal terms with men. The college is divided into 70 departments organised in 8 faculties. It has over 16,000 students including around 5,000 postgraduates.
