The team of Pavan Bharadwaj and Mayank Koushik from Sri Kumarans CBSE School on Monday won the top prize at the third Jack Kilby Science and Technology Quiz conducted by Texas Instruments (India) in partnership with the Karnataka Quiz Association.
But the winning team had to face stiff competition from the eventual runners-up, Janam Thakkar and Suraj Nair from Frank Anthony Public School. The team of Srisha Haridas and Raghunandan Prasad of Sri Kumarans SSLC School won the third prize.
Prizes galore
While the top team walked away with digital cameras and the TI rolling trophy, the second place winners were given telescopes, trophies and certificates. The team that finished third was presented with TI scientific calculators.
The quiz was conducted in two phases. Nearly 150 teams of two students each participated in the preliminary written round.
Six of the best teams were short-listed from over 45 schools. Here is what KQA president Ochintya Sharma had to say on the participation: The level of enthusiasm and the quality of participation makes The Jack Kilby Science and Technology quiz an event I look forward to every year.
As always, I enjoyed conducting the quiz and I am completely overwhelmed by the knowledge and effervescence of its participants.
Last year, the team of Achintya Prahlad and Aditya Goel from Delhi Public School emerged as the winner of the second edition of the quiz.
The first edition of the quiz held on November 9, 2003 was won by the National Public School team of Anirban Dattagupta and Mukund Kaimal.
Another team from the same school, comprising Anirudh Raghavan and Bharath Simha had won the second prize.
