Should schools impart financial training

Easy come easy go best defines todays dynamic scenario. Be it the ever-evolving job market or the amount on your monthly bank statement. With many new job prospects and avenues for entrepreneurship opening up, the earning capacity of youngsters too, has sharply increased. But, so have opportunities to spend, invest and save.

Learning to manage ones money has today, become more important than ever before. Managing money is not just about saving but also about budgeting, investing, insuring, taxation and much more. Unfortunately, not many have the required knowledge to do so. Most youngsters reach adulthood without even a cursory knowledge of personal finance. Consequently, one tends to learn money management by trial and error and often when it is too late. This leads to the obvious question: Shouldnt schools and colleges make life skills such as lessons in money management and budgeting a part of the academic curriculum?
