Information
Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, seer of Suttur Mutt, has urged the Government to take steps to pass an order for the compulsory admission of children of government employees to government schools.

Speaking at inauguration of a school complex here on Sunday, the swamiji said primary and secondary education should be provided compulsorily to all children.

He said providing education in high-tech private educational institutions is a prestigious matter for many people, but it is a bad concept. He praised educational institutions that work for the uplift of children from economically backward sections of society.

Inaugurating the school complex building, former Union Minister V. Srinivas Prasad said it is the duty of every parent to make sure that his children get education. He said though Parliament is the major policy making body, it has failed to ensure compulsory education. He praised the Suttur Mutt for providing free education to children. Arathi Desai Gowdar, actor, said the governments are spending crores of rupees to provide free education. Despite the efforts, child labour is prevalent.
