Mangalore University will introduce two new postgraduate courses - M. Sc in Biotechnology and M. Sc in Earth Science and Resource Management -from the academic year 2006-07.
According to K. M. Kaveriappa, Vice-Chancellor, only a private government-aided college in Mangalore offered a postgraduate course in Biotechnology under the university. Considering the growing importance of the subject, the university has decided to introduce the course from the coming academic year at Mangalagangotri.
Dr. Kaveriappa said that the university will wind up the M.Sc course in Marine Geology and in its place M.Sc in Earth Science and Resource Management will be introduced. Though the Kuvempu University introduced this postgraduate course in 2001, the syllabi of the course to be introduced by the Mangalore University will not be the same. The syllabi has been prepared taking into account the latest developments in Earth Science and Resource Management.
