The CET counselling, as per schedule, will start on June 26. Announcing this at a press conference, Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramuthy and Medical Education Minister V S Acharya on Friday said there would be no postponement as the first session of counselling from June 26 to July 1 is for special categories(NCC, sports, physically handicapped, present and ex-servicemen and students from Jammu and Kashmir), which are not linked with the ongoing talks.
By July 3, when the counselling for the general category begins, the formula worked out by the two committees will be placed before the Cabinet and consequently, a Bill will be passed, Mr Shankaramurthy said. He added that talks with the private managements on seat sharing and fee structure, which is now in the final stage, has been successful.
There will be one more round of talks with the private managements on Saturday. The Cabinet meeting to ratify the formula will be held on Monday or Tuesday morning.
