Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) will launch two new post-graduate diploma courses, Organic Farming and, Capital and Commodity Markets, this academic year. The duration of the course will be one year.
The course in organic farming would aim at training agricultural graduates to become consultants, technocrats and managers of organic enterprises and create self-employment opportunities.
Organic farmers learn to use organic materials such as farm manure, compost, vermicompost, biofertilizers, biopesticides and botanicals. For attaining sustainable production, there was a need for agriculture to adopt organic means.
Post-graduate diploma holders in Capital and Commodity Markets could take up careers as brokers and consultants in selling commodities futures and giving technical advice.
The last date for receiving completed applications for these courses June 6.
