The Delhi Government has approved a proposal to increase the number of seats in various technical institutions and ITIs from this academic year.
The decision was taken at the third meeting of the State Vocational Education Board presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday. She said the decision would go a long way in encouraging students to opt for vocational courses and overcome admission problems in Delhi. In all, 1,600 seats would be added for students.
The present intake of 2,550 students in the B.Tech course would now increase to 3,210, whereas the intake for the MBA course would increase from 480 to 720. A total of 240 seats in the B.Tech course have been increased at the Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology, 180 in the Maharaja Suraj Mal Institute of Technology, 120 in Northern India Engineering College, 60 in the Ambedkar Institute of Technology and 30 each in the Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology and the National Power Training Institute.
