    CET on the anvil for CA course

    The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is planning to introduce a common proficiency test (CPT) (similar to CET for professional course students) for the entry to the chartered accountancy course from September this year, according to T N Manoharan, president, ICAI, New Delhi.

    The first CPT test will be held on November 12, for which a draft scheme of the new curriculum has been notified by the Government of India. The entire CPT will be objective type for 200 marks.

    Students who have passed the 12th std are eligible to take this examination, he said. Manoharan had inaugurated the two-day, state-level continuing professional education (CPE) conference, organised by the Bellary CPE chapter of Southern India Regional Committee (SIRC) of ICAI at Vijayanagara Engineering College conference hall on Sunday.
