Long-distance learning brings students closer
A television set on its own may not be much of an educational tool. But add a Web camera and a high-speed Internet connection, and a lesson plan becomes more exciting.
That was the case at Coolbaugh Elementary Center on Friday afternoon as a group of fifth graders took a distance learning class about famous Americans.
The 20 students in Ellen Wilsons class did an exercise with three other schools in Chester and Pike County, Pa., and Frankfort, Ky. Students took turns representing famous figures from American history, and asking their fellow students in the other schools to guess who they were.
