DYFI convention: Young girls all for self employment schemes

The UPA government at the Centre may have launched schemes like the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), however, the young girls from all over the country feel that they are still considered to be the weaker sex when it comes to providing employment. Employment opportunities, various schemes and initiatives were some of the biggest concerns of the young girls from all over the country, who have assembled at the Nehru Yuva Kendra at Chowk for the 2nd All India Young Girls Convention organised by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI).

There are so many schemes for women but ironically, when it comes to reducing the number of employees in the country, it is the women on whom the axe falls, said P Sajitha. Sajitha is a member of the Central Executive Committee of DYFI in Kerala. Another member from Kerala, Latha said that the government schemes may have been created to benefit the women, but how many of them are actually aware of these schemes is a very debatable question.
