UK allows foreign students a year for job search
Over 80 universities from United Kingdom participated in the UK education fair held at British Council, New Delhi recently. The fair was aimed at providing first hand information about institutions and courses in the UK.The prime attraction of this fair was the one-year stay period offered by the UK institutions and Scotlands Fresh Talent Initiative (SFTI).
The new immigration laws now allow foreign students to stay in UK for a year to look for a job after completing their masters. Lorna Halliday, international recruitment manager for Scotland, said: Scottish universities allow students from other countries to stay in the country for two more years after passing out to search for a job in Scotland. On the flexibility of immigration laws she said that declining population, especially of youngsters, have forced the government to make such amendments.
The frequently asked queries by the aspiring candidates were related to work opportunity in the UK after completing studies and the investment in specific course, among others. According to Ruchika Castelino, head education UK-India, The education fair aims at satisfying the queries of the students related to their choice of courses and universities.
Management courses remain the most sought-after courses. I am considering my options in marketing management and international hospitality from Leeds Metropolitan University as for me the reputation of the institute does matter, said Ankut Bharti, one of the visitors to the fair.
