New scholarship programme for Vietnamese students
The programme will present scholarships, each worth $200, to 100 students of five universities - the Ho Chi Minh City National University, the Ha Noi National University, the HCM City Economics College, the Ha Noi University and the HCM City Foreign Trade College.
The programme encourages outstanding students from all higher educational institutions to apply for scholarships. Beneficiaries are students in need of financial aid for their study and chosen according to their scholastic achievements and extra-curricular activities.
SMBC Global Foundation, established in April 1994 under sponsorship of SMBC Capital Markets, Inc., has provided scholarships to students of 25 universities in China, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. Vietnam and Malaysia have been added to the list of the programmes beneficiaries as from 2006.
