Successful test of high-function broadband information network
Recently, the new high-functioning information network has undergone large-scale interactive multimedia testing in Shanghai, Hangzhou and Nanjing. The success of these tests indicates that Chinas own interactive multi-media network technology and has now reached a world standard. It lays a solid foundation for the next generation of information technology infrastructure and for the development of a new service industry with this new technology at its center
The high-functioning broadband network, known as 3Tnet, is an important technology project of the National 863 Program during the Fifteenth Five period. It.has a high speed band-width of more than 41 MBs for every household user, between 5 and 10 times the current bandwidth, and can transfer one thousand trillion bytes per second. With this network, it may be possible to combine the three existing networks including the internet, the telegraphic network and the broadcasting TV network. With this technology people will be able to enjoy high resolution TV, digital TV, high quality stereoscopic music, internet services and interactive video dialog through the family TV or PC. Previously these services were provided by each network separately.
Users will now be able to enjoy the advantages of distance medical care, distance education and working at home.
