EMC & BITS Pilani sign education agreementEMC & BITS Pilani sign education agreement EMC (Benelux) B.V. SARL (EMC), a subsidiary of EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management and storage, and Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani) today announced the signing of BITS Pilani as a part of the EMC Academy Program (EAP). Under this program, BITS Pilani is offering an information management and storage course starting from the current semester. EMC has forged alliances with 33 education institutions and over 749 students have undertaken this course across India under EAP. EAP is an education program focused on developing a resource pool of skilled information management and storage professionals in the country to meet the growing needs of this technology segment. As an EMC Academy, BITS Pilani will offer the course in information management and storage to the BITS Pilani students. BITS, Pilani opted out of India Today ranking Since the year 2005, BITS Pilani has opted out of India Todays survey of the top engineering institutions of India because of a pending court case between BITS and India Today. In 2004, when the weekly published its rankings, BITS questioned the validity of the data on BITS reported in the magazine because there were many factual errors in India Todays data on BITS. The institute filed a court case against the magazine which is still pending. As the institute has not been participating in the survey, it does not figure in the
L K Maheshwari has taken over as the new vice chancellor of Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, Rajasthan. Maheshwari was previously the pro-vice chancellor of BITS and director of the Pilani campus. Maheshwari is a PhD in from BITS Pilani in 1971 and has authored five books and over 80 research papers.

IGNOU and RCI sign agreement Indira Gandhi National Open University has signed a memorandum of understanding with Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) to jointly promote and implement extension training and education programmes for special target groups of the disabled. Ooltewahs Rachel Robbs To Sign Alabama Track Scholarship Ooltewah High School multi-sport star Rachel Robbs has committed to sign a track and field scholarship with the University of Alabama. Robbs committed recently and will sign a grant-in-aid in April. I had been talking to Memphis and Belmont about track, and to Lipscomb about volleyball, Robbs said Sunday. Cambrian signs agreement with Australian university The presidents at Cambrian College in Sudbury and Charles Stuart University (CSU) in Australia, have signed an agreement that will allow Cambrian graduates to further their education through an on-campus or long-distance format. The agreement formally recognizes credits from a number of Cambrians programs at CSU. Graduates of Cambrians Primary Care Paramedic, Advanced Care Paramedic, Software Engineering Technology and Computer Systems Technology programs will be able to upgrade at CSU. The agreement between Sylvia Barnard, president of Cambrian and Professor Ian Goulter, president and vice-chancellor of CSU, signed the agreement simultaneously via videoconferencing. Deemed Universities have Promised to Implement Reservations News channels have recently carried reports claiming that certain unaided deemed universities have promised to implement reservations for SC/ST and OBC in which BITS-Pilanis name was mentioned. However, the institute claims that it has submitted a note to the Ministry of Human Resource Development expressing its views on reservations. According to BITS, merit must be the only criterion for admissions so as to ensure homogenous input into the higher education system. It believes that provisions must be made at schools to give special coaching so that all students can compete at par.
IT Agreement NUT has entered into an agreement with Changing Information Industry Bureau (CQIIB), to build human capital infrastructure for the emerging knowledge economy. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed to this effect. As per the agreement, NUT will offer its globally acclaimed IT training programmes through universities and colleges in the worlds largest city, Changing, China. NUT will offer training programmes in the areas of software engineering and application, network administration and management, and game design and development to create a skilled pool of professionals for the IT industry.
Say this to the hundreds thronging myriad Delhi University (DU) colleges every day in search of a seat, and they will not believe you. But there is, indeed, life beyond Delhi University colleges. So much so, that students are willing to forego even a seat in the prestigious St Stephens College, for the sake of professionalism that the university lacks in popular perception. Take the case of Arjun Mittal. Arjun got through St Stephens in the B.Sc (computer science) programme. But he is all set to join BITS Pilani to study the same subject. It is a more professional institute.
