SFA receives $500,000 grant for distance education

SFA recently received more than $500,000 from the U.S. Department of Education to improve and expand a distance education which allows paraprofessionals working as teacher aides throughout Texas to complete their bachelors degrees.

Paula Griffin was hired as grant coordinator Nov. 1 after the grant became effective Oct. 1.

Griffin, who taught kindergarten for several years before becoming an adjunct faculty member at SFA, said distance education learning makes the dream of becoming a teacher a reality for many paraprofessionals.
