Chevening Scholarships 2007 Scheme B - Short Term (Professional) Scholarships
For working professionals who already have substantial experience and are looking for a short-term professional training programme to expand and consolidate their experience, knowl¬edge and skills. In 2007 programmes available are
(i) Gurukul Senior Scho¬larship in Leadership and Excellence
(ii) Young Indian Print Journalist Progra¬mme and
(iii) Young Indian Broadcast Journalist Programme. Each scholarship covers full pro¬gramme fees, living expenses - for a maximum period of 12 weeks, return airfare from India to UK and student visa
Requirements: Indian nat¬ional with a valid Indian pass¬port, 25-35 years of age on Nov¬ember 30, 2006 (except Gurukul for which age criteria is 28-40 years), fluent in written and spoken English.
To apply: Simply complete the Chevening Scholarships 2007 applica¬tion form. It may downloaded from www. britishcouncil.org.in/5cholar-ships or obtained from the British Council office at New Delhi. Do not apply directly to the UK Programme Providers.

Graduate Training Scholarship
Under this special programme select¬ed candidates are provided with one year of paid training at UBS-London within operations, in the fields of
(i) equity operations and
(ii) operations cross-product services. The scholar¬ship covers return airfare from Mumbai and New Delhi to London, participation fee of £1,425, expenses involved in the issue of UK Work Permit, a living allowance of £615 (tax free) per month to cover living and local transportation expenses, and free accommodation.
Requirements: An Indian citizen and resident, highly proficient in spo¬ken and written English, in good health (physically and mentally), with at least a Bachelors degree with a major/ specialisation in banking/ finance/ interna¬tional business. A Postgraduate or an MBA should also have a specialisation in international finance/ banking. Professional exami¬nations in banking and finance are welcome but should not be used in place of a bachelors degree.
