A scholarship fit for a worthy General

Earning player of the game honours for the Cochrane Generals Junior B hockey club means more than getting a pat on the back from their teammates, it also gives them a chance to pad their wallets.

Every player who earns the player of the game honour this season will have their name put into a draw for a $1,000 scholarship thanks to All Span Building Systems Ltd. The scholarship, held in trust by the Generals, will be picked during their first playoff home game of the season.

We have done it in the past and its just a good opportunity for an athlete to continue on their education, said Russ Nicol, chief financial officer at All Span. We have a lot of employees that have kids involved in hockey and this is the highest level in Cochrane so we thought we would give back.
