Harper receives Safken scholarship
In some ways, Austin Harper reminds Linda Mulleady of her own son.
It only seems fitting the Fruita Monument High School senior is the recipient of the first Sam Safken Memorial Scholarship.
There is something about the way he looked, Mulleady said. He is a clean-cut young man and has the same pale skin. He is real sweet and quiet.
Sam was always humble. He was never boastful. Hed get mad at me telling people how good he is. Hed say, Mom, you dont have to toot your own horn when youre good.
