India, Brazil Search for the Global Spotlight: William Pesek

Much has been made of the so-called BRIC economies, and for good reason.

With Japan, the U.S. and Europe offering fewer blockbuster opportunities, the search is on for the next frontiers of capitalism. While the BRICs – Brazil, Russia, India, China – have long since been discovered, each economy is years, if not decades, away from reaching its potential.

BRICs, according to the 2003 Goldman Sachs report that popularized the acronym, are nations with the potential to become dominant economies with a good chance of turning that promise into reality. Hence all the hubbub.
