Texas University to launch National Flagship Language Programme
Seeking to give its graduates a cutting-edge and proficiency in various professional streams that require the use of Hindi and Urdu, the University of Texas has been selected by the International Institute for Education to create the first US National Flagship Language Program in both the languages.
The Universitys South Asia Institute will be receiving over $7,00,000 in funding in 2006-07 to launch the new programme in the two languages that are most widely spoken in India and Pakistan.
The goal of UTFs Flagship Program is to produce university graduates with the highest levels of fluency and professional proficiency in Hindi and Urdu, the University in Austin said in a press statement here.
